Show cover

Rosie Paulyk is the creator of Chronic Oasis - an online community where humans who love and care for chronically ill family members reinforce, remember, or redefine who we are. In her free time (yes, she has some!) she sings Jazz, writes sassy stories with her beloved/rad Mama S, and entertains her 17-year-old zany cat, Eric.

A few highlights from the show:

1. Many caregivers have to mold themselves into society rather than honor themselves and focus on being the best they can be for their loved humans and communities.

2. Rosie intentionally changes things physically to prepare for a "new" moment. For example, before this episode, she put on a jacket that served as a very physical reminder that something fresh and new was about to happen. She says this kind of visual reminder is really helpful for her to release what was going on a moment ago.

3. Uncertainty doesn't have to be viewed as scary. It can be exciting because it could be full of possibilities.

4. Chronic Oasis is specific to chronic illnesses and family caregivers. The Chronic Oasis community is free for caregivers.

NOTE: According to a National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP survey, there are at least 3.4 million caregivers under the age of 18 nationwide. - American Heart Association News

About Me:

In 2011, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, out of the blue. I did not have any prior health concerns or issues.

Fast forward, the dreaded cancer diagnosis opened my eyes, introduced me to my purpose, and lead me to where I am today.

As a Cancer Doula, I use my 10-years of experience with cancer to support and guide others diagnosed with cancer. Many people are not familiar with what a cancer doula is. Think of me as a personal health care advocate.
