Ecu Radio

Ecu Radio (www.ecuradio.eu) is a one-stop news website and podcast broadcasting from the heart of Europe. Facing challenges if not threats from all sides, we're looking to:

  1. Decrypt the European Union, helping its citizens to understand their continent's strengths and challenges

  2. Celebrate our successes and the people that make us proud

  3. Reaffirm our core values such as fundamental rights, freedom, peace and democracy

  4. Buy European, providing alternatives to products coming from authoritarian states or exploitative corporations.

But why did it come to be?

Let's turn back the clock.

The year is 2025. The month is March. Europe appears surrounded.

To the East, the war in Ukraine enters its third year. The conflict has taken a heavy toll on its people and cities, shattering over two decades of peace on the continent, featuring a scale of devastation not seen since the Second World War, 80 years ago.

In the West, across the Atlantic, the United States is led by a president whose platform is fueled by divisive rhetoric, if not hatred. Democratic institutions are under threat, as a group of influential billionaires work to undermine civil service and suppress dissenting voices.

Despite long-standing alliances and partnerships, both powers now view the European Union and its member states as adversaries to be overcome.

Europe is on its own. However, it is not helpless.

Because Europe is a union of 450 million people, boasting a nominal GDP of nearly 20 trillion euros. It is a global leader in science, industry, and education. It is a beacon of democracy, prosperity, freedom, and fundamental rights. It is a place where everyone is born equal and free to shape their own destiny. It is an aspiration for many countries that recognize what the continent stands for, and a dream for millions who wish to join its Union, both within and beyond its borders.

Most importantly, Europe is a normative power, enforcing regulations designed to protect its people and the environment from the excesses of corporations and rival states, from unchecked capitalism, fascism, and authoritarianism.

But what good are these strengths if they remain unrecognized? If the people perceive Europe as weak? If they are ready to dismantle it because they cannot see its benefits? If they fall prey to propaganda that paints a different picture?

This is where Ecu Radio comes in. Our platform, though modest, addresses these concerns and provides reasons to believe in Europe's enduring strength and resilience.
